What are the lessons for optimising recent changes to the Queensland Public Sector?
When Machinery of Government (MoG) changes occur, a window of opportunity for genuine renewal opens and the public service is momentarily “unfrozen” for remodelling. This brief period will make or break efforts over the following 2-3 years and beyond. Done well, these changes refresh an organisation’s vision, customer focus, engagement with the community and staff by refocusing efforts with new or reinvigorated policy directions. With the stakes so high, it is important that lessons are learnt from previous Machinery of Government changes.
